In high school I was a class officer, played 2 varsity sports (tennis at my own high school, swimming at the public high school), was on the newspaper staff, and participated in Spanish club and Honor Society.

Oh I have to put myself in for this just for the title. Not heard of this one or the author so would also be something new.

Wow. Where do I start!? I was the PRESIDENT of my school’s Gay Straight Alliance, which lead to winning my county’s teen activism award. I was in marching, symphonic, and jazz band. I also played Dungeons and Dragons weekly, along with the card game Magic. I played Everquest, the precursor to World of Warcraft. How much nerdier can you get than that?

There aren’t really any high school clubs/societies in my country, so I spent my teens nerdily posting on message boards online and listening to The Smiths. Can I still enter though? :P Thanks for making the giveaway international!

    I follow you on twitter and I’m a subscriber, so I guess that’s +2 :P

I was involved in sports, but they were the uncool sports: track and cross country (most people in my school were unaware that we even had a cross country team.) I was also in gifted and talented, worked on the school news magazine, was in both regular honor society (oh how I hated that dorky blue sweater) and Spanish honor society, and was involved with our non-denominational flagpole prayer group.

I’m sure the world thinks us Aussies all surf during our lunch break but the reality is in 40deg heat and no aircon, we spent our school time creating BO in stuffy classrooms coming up with excuses for getting out of physical education.

There were plenty of things to do at our school but most it involved sport or performing arts and if you weren’t blessed with courage or coordination, then you were left with the year book. I couldn’t even get in the enormous chorus required for a School Eisteddfod – comp between all the schools that requires nearly every kid to participate ’cause under the illusion that bigger is better.

So thats what I did – the year book.
Oh and our school was pretty clicky so I collected outcasts. Any new kid was immediately a member of our group – which was pretty terrific – we were very multicultural.
Other than that and a brief infatuation with WHAM I was pretty boring.

    +1 for confession
    +1 following on twitter
    +1 tweeting about give away

hope you don’t take one entry away for WHAM!
    Thanks for making it international!

I think this book sounds great, and I would love a chance to win it!! I went to a very small school, but I did just about everything there was to do: I was on Varsity Volleyball and Varisty Track. I was in the National Honor Society, on the Yearbook staff, the school newspaper, student council, Class officer, Drama society, chorus and class valedictorian. I was both sporty and geeky!!

I do follow you on Twitter (that’s how I heard about this) and now I follow Frank Polito.

Ha, sometimes I wish I was still living in the ’80’s! Drama club for me though I stepped out of the limelight in grade 11 in favour of writing and directing the skits and plays instead.

I am a new follower as of earlier this morning and will post this giveaway here.

Thanks for the chance to win this one.

    Violet,

I meant to tweet you, because you DID comment, but for some reason, freakin’ wordpress is being a jerk about it and is dead set in not letting you win. Every time I approve your comment, it doesn’t show up. And then I go back to comments and it is unapproved again. But do not fear! I would have still counted it. Now I think I’ll just delete the first one, as clearly you have been clever enough to usurp the arrogance of wordpress.
