You Don’t Have to Wait ‘Til the Shortlists Are Announced for Awards

BingoOne of the coolest things about the book blogging community is how much we love and praise each other.  We show our love through comments, linking, retweeting, and, most palpably, through awards.  And not just the BBAW kind of awards (which we are all eagerly anticipating), but through the meme type of awards that we pass around to each other.  I’ve been lucky enough to get three awards lately, and now it’s time for me to pass them on!

The first one, the B.I.N.G.O. Award, I got from Elena from With Extra Pulp.

Elena gave it to me in the “Neighborly” category (Thanks to Mr. Rogers for imbuing me with a neighborly spirit from a young age), which is really cool, when you think about it, because I can be neighborly on the internets, even though I’m in the U.S. and Elena is in Australia.  In fact, I’m pretty sure it is already tomorrow there.  Even though I got it for Neighborly, this award means that me and my blog are:

B: Beautiful
I: Informative
N: Neighborly
G: Gorgeous
O: Outstanding

Elena points out that Beautiful and Gorgeous are synonyms, but hey, whatev.

I’m happy to pass it along to:

B: Tif of Tif Talks Books (an all around great blog and blogger)
I:  Alea at Pop Culture Junkie (who always has awesome cover comparisons)
N: Molly of My Cozy Book Nook (who hosted the Summer Vacation Reading Challenge…I’m almost done, I swear!)
G: Terri of Browngirl Bookspeak  (who, despite being relatively new to book blogging, is racking up the awards, with no little wonder)
O: Trish of Trish’s Book Nook (who hosted the nonfiction reading challenge, which ended in September, therefore I took to mean ended September 31, therefore I have not finished yet.)

I was going to give this one to Michelle of the True Book Addict, but then discovered that she just got it earlier this week.  This is what I get for putting off giving out awards.

Onward!

Michelle from the True Book Addict bestowed TWO awards on me.proxaward

The first is the….actually, I don’t know what this one is called.  It is in Portuguese and roughly means “This blog believes in…proximity”.  I’m working on getting a better translation.

Anyways, here’s the explanation of the award:

Being a recipient of this award affirms that this blog invests and believes in the Proximity – nearness in space, time and relationships. This blog receives this great award as a further way to reiterate that it is excedingly charming, and aims to find and be friends. They are not interested in prizes or self-aggrandizement! Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers!

I’m supposed to pass this one on to two more bloggers, so I’m giving it to:

J. Kaye from J. Kaye’s Blog (who apparently follows 710 blogs, and STILL manages to comment on mine, post several times a day, read a ton of books, and host cool give aways)

Jackie from LiteraryEscapism (who invited me to guest post on her blog during BBAW…I should probably get that to her…)
This one makes me thirsty.  It’s the Lemonade Stand Award.  Really, I prefer my lemonade in a bottle that says “Mike’s” on it, or in a martini glass with a sugar rim, but hey, a stand is cool, too.  ;)

AwardLemonade-1The Lemonade Award is a feel good award that shows great attitude or gratitude. Here are the rules for accepting this award:

• Put the Lemonade Award logo on your blog or post.
• Nominate at least 10 blogs that show great attitude or gratitude.
• Link your nominees within your post.
• Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog.
• Share the love and link to the person from whom you received the award.

1. Rebecca of Rebecca Reads (Who is so diverse, her recent posts have been about sharpening kitchen knives and Chicago Architecture)
2. Rebecca of Lost in Books (Who will feature moi in her 20 questions later this month)
3. Sarah of Seriously Kooky (who blogs about a variety of things and won my very first give away)
4.Velvet from vvb32 reads (who has been overwhelming me with zombie goodness this week–even if it’s not always the apocalypse kind, for which, I fear she will be unprepared for the zombie apocalypse–and you should go vote for my haiku, #6)
5. Hannah at Wordlilly (whose subtitle for her blog is “for the love of language”–I can appreciate that!)
6. Elena from With Extra Pulp (who always leaves me wonderful comments)
7.  T.Y. from the Lit Connection (whose Bum Wars posts in her “I Can’t Believe I Wrote That” series have been seriously cracking me up).
8. Park Avenue Princess (Who has a TON of give aways, and has recently stolen Ed from J. Kaye)
9. Raych of Books I Done Read (who sometimes reads horrible books on dares so the rest of us don’t have to, but can still know to avoid said books).
10. Kristen of Books for Breakfast, Drinks for Dinner (whose blog name pretty much describes my life, but does not blog enough and maybe this will get her to post more ofterner.)

And so there you have it.  There’s lots more deserving blogs out there, but most of them already have these awards.

Now, I’m supposed to go around and leave comments telling everyone that I gave them an award, but Holy Shit, that’s SEVENTEEN people, and I have a LIFE, even though it’s after 4 and I haven’t taken a shower, but that’s just my point because I have to go take a shower and get on the bus to go downtown and do shots of patron because it is Friday and remind me to tell you about my 100 Fridays some time and can you tell I was just on Raych’s blog because now I’m talking like her?

Anyways, if you see your name on this post please say so in the comments section because it will save me from telling you tomorrow when I am hung over and at the bar watching football.

UPDATE: O.K., I guess I’m not going downtown after all, so let’s race to see if I comment on your blog telling you about this or you find it on your own.  Raych has already done it.  Ready.  Set.  Go.

I nannied for a year, and I nannied TODDLERS, and even THEY came out sounding like me (minus the cuss words, obvs). Soon you will ALL SOUND LIKE ME!!!!

Also, I overflow with delight. I will certainly go vote for your haiku.

Haha thank you the award! You’re right, it’s totally Saturday morning here, i should still be in bed. Yay for neighbourly-ness, not even our different ways of spelling neighbourly can get in the way of our bloggerfriendship :P

Hmmm–if you pop by my blog you’ll see I’m taking a break from blogging, but I still found this first, so I guess I’m not taking a break? Shit–I feel like a fraud now!! Oh wait, just checked my email and I guess we found each other the same time. :P

Thanks JT–you definitely added a little cheer to my day. And congrats to YOU on the awards. (Oh, and I don’t even think I’ll finish my OWN challenges this year–so don’t feel bad about missing the Sept deadline, which hasn’t passed yet anyway). :)

Thank you for the award! I’d give you a virtual hug, but you may try clobber me with a mace or bite my arm like a rabid dog like the rabid bum in my story. I’m with Rebecca when I say YOU ROCK…but don’t pelt me with rocks.

LOL – yes, i’m definitely unprepared for a zombie infestation. I’m just not taking them too serioustly. ;-D I plan on getting some help with The Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks though. Thanx for the for Lemonade – would this be a good drink to have in my zombie survival kit?

Thank you so much for thinking of me for the kind award. Yes, it’s true I have a ton of giveaways. But, I didn’t steal Ed away from J.Kaye. Ed has a notice up on Book Blogs for anyone that wants him on their blog and actually approached me for more exposure and I emailed J.Kaye to let her know about this. It’s not like I would go behind anyone’s back. I hope you know that I am just not like that!

Thanks again and anyone can have Ed on their blog…just contact me and I’ll let you know how!

Hope you have a fabulous long weekend!

Raych: you will take over the world with your talking

Elena: Now it’s Saturday morning HERE, so I think you are sleeping…or having a wild Saturday night :)

Rebecca: It’s O.K….if your reader is anything like mine, it’s little wonder I would beat most people.

Trish: no breaks from blogging! EVER! We will miss you :(

    Alea: you’re welcome

T.Y.: I’m glad that you are coming around and finally realize that I would win in a fight with Medieval weaponry

browngirl: We are an awesome, happy, dysfunctional family. :)

Velvet: Study the Survival Guide carefully–it will help you leaps and bounds. And thanks for letting me know that I’m #6 not #7…I’ve fixed it on the post. But I think that means that I should get all of #7’s votes, don’t you?

Amy: I was just teasing…I know that you didn’t really steal Ed! :)
