Read-A-Thon: Update the First & Reading Pile
Good Morning Read-A-Thonners! I’m starting a little late. I really tried to get up by 5 AM (the start time here in Seattle) but when I hit the snooze but and realized I wouldn’t get up before 5, I figured I might as well give myself another hour of sleep.
I have a bad cold/cough/soar throat, and it kept me up all night going HACKHACKHACK, which is why this is not the vlog I intended. I sound like a frog. And while I am tempted to do it anyways, just because vlog and frog rhymes, the first time I ever let you guys see me (aside from Michelle who managed to find me on Facebook when I said there was probably enough info on here to find me and so anyone who bothered I would friend–and then Michelle had to go and take that as a challenge and now knows my face–also, Kristen M. because we met as she lives in the Seattle environs) I figured should not be like this.
So, no vlog for you. But don’t worry, I have a very special surprise coming which might be just as vlog-worthy as the #readathon (which btw, is trending on Twitter right now! Yay!).
O.K., here is my list, in no particular order:
Two Histories of England by Jane Austen & Charles Dickens
Alex & M by Irene M. Peperberg
The Koran (by Muhammed–peace be upon him–? Nevertheless, translated by A. J. Arberry)
The Country of the Pointed Firs by Sarah Orne Jewett
The Body Artist by Don DeLillo
The Turn of the Screw by Henry James
Possible Futures by Jude Treder-Wolff
People of the Book by Geraldine Brooks
Northhanger Abbey by Jane Austen
I probably won’t finish everything. Certainly I only plan on reading a little bit of the Koran! But since it’s on my list for the pre-printing press challenge, I figured I’d start it and read a little here or there over the next couple months. I’d like to get to the birth of Jesus by Christmas, as that would be fun to get another perspective of the birth in a holy text.
I’m listening to Northhanger Abbey on CD so when I have to do things like take a shower, I can still be *reading*
And don’t forget, if you are reading novellas, join my reading challenge!
Happy Read-A-Thon!

Great list! Good luck with the reading. I’m not participating today but will be cheering everyone on.
Have a wonderful Day; enjoy your books, and take time to rest as well. It is pouring here so it’s the perfect day to be in the house reading and relaxing!
Good luck today! Sorry that you are feeling sick though. Luckily, reading is the second best thing to rest!
Have fun reading and hope you feel better too!
I thought of audiobooks this morning. Too late! It would be handy to be able to make meals, clean up, etc. while still doing the readathon. Next time I will have to remember
Good luck. I hope “see you at the finish line.”
Hope you are feeling better! I started late too.. a shame.
