The Kreativ Award

So, uh, where’ve you been?  Who, me?  I’ve been here.  I’ve been on Twitter.  I’m all over Twitter.  It’s just that, uh, well, you know, I had these visitors, and then they left and I had to uh…you know…do stuff?  That wasn’t blog-related?  Like…uh, you know, stuff.

Yeah.

But!  But I’ve been keeping up with my Google Reader.  Sort of.  It just fills up so fast.  I can’t help that.

I think that I’ve been so derelict in my blogging because I have some non-book posts to write, and while there are some happy posts in there (like this one if you stay with me), I just…you know…put off writing them…

So now I must re-dedicate myself to the Holy Art of Book Blogging.  And I thought that the best way to do that, was to acknowledge some great blogs, and channel Sally Fields a little bit.

I’ve been awarded not once, but twice, the Kreativ Award, which, among other distinguishing things, is quite pretty:

kreative-blogger-award

I’d actually like to paint my office these colors, if my husband would let me.

The much loved Tif and Avisannschild gave me this award (aaaaaaand cue Sally Fields, now).  Upon receiving this reward, one must A. list seven things one likes and B. list seven blogs one likes.  So here we go:

Things I like (besides the obvious: books, blogs, writing):

1. The English Language & etymology
2. Shoes
3. Plymouth, MI, my home town
4. West Coast style/attitude (and the laid-backness thereof)
5. My husband, who is also my best friend (for real)
6. Doing shots of Patron at the Merchant’s Cafe in Pioneer Square in Seattle on Fridays
7. My 11 nieces and nephews (none of whom even live in my time zone, or the one next to it, for that matter).

Man, there’s a lot of blogs out there I like.  And there’s a lot of bloggers I like talking to on Twitter.  So this is tough!   But there’s some blogs who I save until the end when going through my reader, and some bloggers who I especially enjoy talking to.

1. Linus’s Blanket (Flat out smart, good writing)
2. From Brain to Bookshelf (Pretty much my fav Twitterer, even though we spend half our time arguing.  Also is winning Ms. Twitter UK)
3. Books I Done Read (Raych reminds me of my friend Lindsey back in MI.  She’s really nailed down her voice, which has been influenced, I believe, by Joss Whedon and lolcats, among others)
4. Things Mean a Lot  (Nymeth comments on soooo many blogs, and always has something interesting to add to the conversation.  When she writes reviews of well-known books, it’s always still thoughtful and enjoyable)
5. Five Borough Book Review (These are 20-somethings tryin’ to make it, which is oh-so-relatable to me).
6.  With Extra Pulp  (Elena is another 20-something trying to Figure It All Out, and always has great comments)
7. The Lit Connection (Such a pretty blog!  And I love all of the other culture stuffs).

So that’s it.  Now it’s time for you guys to pass it on!  And don’t forget about BBAW coming up in less than 2 months!

Whoa whoa whoa, Raych…do you know the genius of Buffy the Vampire Slayer? If not, start watching stat. I am currently rewatching the series and reliving my adolescent days in which I had an unhealthy Buffy-obsession. Seasons 1-3 are most excellent.

    Thanks for the award, JT!!

    Thank you, thank you :D

It’s good not to be alone in this whole Figuring It All Out business. I must check out blogs 5 and 6, which are new to me.

    T.Y.: You’re welcome!

Raych: I’m with Kari. How can you not know who Joss Whedon is? Clearly if you have not been influenced by him directly, it must have been by a fan of his. I credit him for making it acceptable to adjectivize (is that a word? what’s the verb version of adjective?) any noun by adding a “y” to the end. Also, adding a “y” to the end of an adjective to make it an even better adjective, for that matter. Example, my computer is all electronicy.

Kari: A suggestion: how many of there are you on five boroughs? Maybe you should each pick one different blog to honor.

Nymeth: I’ve just realized that except for Rebecca, who is Old As the Hills (i.e., in her 30’s, making her a Gen Xer), everyone on this list is, I believe, in their 20’s. It’s not that I don’t enjoy blogs by people of all ages, but perhaps the not being alone thing is what I like so much.

Rebecca: I have no idea what “chuffed” means. It sounds phallic, or having to do with sausages, which is phallic in itself, I suppose. I will, however, take it to be a good thing.

Elena: This was my first award, too! It was sort of ironic that I got it twice in like, a week and a half.

Tif: what part of the West Coast did you live on?

I lived on the east side of Washington state, but visited the Oregon coast and Seattle area often! Someday, I will return and hope to settle outside of Portland!!

cheeky mare! BTW ‘chuffed’ means ‘pleased’ or ‘happy’. For a hill to form iin 30-odd years it would need to be volcanic. Prepare for an explosion!

    :P

Congratulations on holding litchat together today. When twitter fell over I thought you were a gonner but you pulled it back. Nice work.
