FreeVerse: Spring Kitten

freeverse17Cara has thrown down the gauntlet for FreeVerse this week.

Coinciding with Serena’s National Poetry Month Tour, she’s having a giveaway for a book she recently reviewed with strong poetry ties (Under Heaven by Guy Gavriel Kay).

To enter, you must write a short poem.

Brevity is not my forté.  While it’s only three stanzas, it started out as a haiku.  So there you go.

“Spring Kitten” by J.T. Oldfield

my kitty sits at the door,
meow meow through the glass.

windy spring
drip drips in
when I check the mail.

a clanging next door
kitty runs and hides.

Whoot! Cool that you wrote you’re own poem. It fits my criteria for the contest. Care to enter?

It is better than anything I could do … who doesn’t like a poem about a kitty?
