A Book A Blogger Recommended

BBAW_Celebrate_BooksFor today’s BBAW writing prompt, I think that you are supposed to have actually gone on to read the book you are blogging about.

But, there’s one book that stood out in my mind so strongly when asked what book I have read because of a post on someone else’s blog, I chose it even though I haven’t read it.

I did buy it though.

The book is Saffron Dreams.  The author is Shaila Abdullah.  The blog is Today’s Adventure.  The Post is Buy a Great Book, Support a Great Cause, posted last month.

When NotNessie posted that for a limited time you could buy this book and all proceeds would be donated to the Aga Khan Foundation USA, which works with people struggling in Africa and Asia

I had heard a little about Saffron Dreams, and read a review at Today’s Adventure (where she gave it a 5/5, and said that Joe would like it), and judging by the topic (a Muslim wife struggles after losing her husband in the September 11th Attacks), I knew it was something I’d like.  I checked out the link to the Aga Khan Foundation and liked what they saw, so I decided to order the book.

This was not a book I would have probably run out to buy, but might have picked it up somewhere along the way in the future.  Now it’s on my bookshelf, and I’m sure I’ll get to it if maybe not by the end of the year, then soon.  And I’ll be sure to review it here when I do.

I had been on business trip and didn’t buy any books during BBAW, but I am drooling over all the wonderful selections bloggers are reporting. This weekend will be the annual library sale and I am planning to lug a car full of goodies home!
