Blogs You Should Be Reading

BBAW_Celebrate_BooksWHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?  WHY ARE YOU NOT READING THESE BLOGS?  WHY DID THEY NOT MAKE THE SHORTLISTS?

This is both an easy and a hard post to write.  When giving out regular awards throughout the year, I know that if I forget to award a blogger I can always give them the next one I receive.  So the pressure is on in this once a year highlight.

But like I said, it’s sort of easy, too, because there are some blogs who did not make the shortlists who I love and think deserve more recognition.  Certain blogs just come to mind and so I’ve decided to limit this post to just a few blogs.  I could go on and on and on.  But I won’t.  I will just say that if these five blogs are not in your reader, you’re nuts, and they should have made the shortlists.

However, I have decided not to address the following to you, dearest readers, but to them, the blogs that I am honoring so that they know that I, at least, love them and here is why:

The Lit Connection~T.Y.: I <3 you and your Lolita Legs and if we should ever fight with Medieval weaponry, I will kick your ass, but then I will put you in a shopping cart and take you to the hospital and call Chuck Norris to come visit you in your body cast.

With Extra Pulp~Elena: I do not know why more people don’t know about your blog.  You were one of my first discoveries and have remained a favorite.

Linus’s Blanket~Nicole: You are one of the smartest bloggers around.  Your reviews are always thoughtful.

Farmlane Books~Jackie: There’s been some “controversy” about the lack U.K. bloggers on the shortlists.  Why didn’t more make the shortlist?  I don’t know, but I’m just tapping my fingers until your blog explodes into the mainstream.

Savidge Reads~Simon (& Simon’s Gran): Again, why the lack of U.K. bloggers?  I have no idea.  I do wish I was a U.K. blogger though so that I could come to your book club.  You are one of the most faithful bloggers around.

Are there more blogs I should probably mention?  Of course there are.  But I said that I was going with the first five I thought of, and I’m sticking to that arbitrary number.

Thank you for your kind words. I was quite disappointed to see so few (were there any?) UK blogs on the shortlist. We have some great blogs in the UK and I have had the pleasure of meeting quite a few of them and can confirm that they are all lovely. It is a shame that you can’t make our book group – I’m sure you’d make a great addition! Thanks again!

Kisses for the recgonition! But come on, if it came to Medieval warfare, I’ll lance you good. Are you sending Chuck Norris to me b.c. his tears will cure cancer?

Thank you J.T.! I suspect it’s because I was sleeping while all the BBAW action kicked off hehe. And there are a couple here that I’ve now discovered so thanks for those as well ^^

(T.Y.: can you please send Chuck to me when you’re done? I have some ass-kicking uses for him…)

I really enjoy posts like this–finding new blogs and getting to know fellow book lovers I haven’t had a chance to meet yet. I also enjoy seeing some of my favorites being highlighted. You’ve got a wonderful blog yourself, you know. :-)

I’m with Jenners that this is a smashing write up and as soon as I am done typing this will be visiting each of the blogs mentioned.

Oh, and ditto on that last sentence in Literary Feline’s comment!

Thank you so much for this its very kind. Has there been some controversy over the british not being included? I guess there are just more american blogs… but I quite like the idea of being an underdog!
