Fairy Tale Interview with Melissa from One Librarian’s Book Reviews

once upon a week banner copyAs I mentioned yesterday, this week will be full of Fairy Tale goodies.  Today I have an interview up at One Librarian’s Book Reviews, and now here is my interview with Melissa!

1. Your prince charming would have what characteristics?  He would have to make me laugh and know how to be silly.  He would also need to know me well enough to really love me (none of this love at first sight for me).  And he’d definitely need to be charming.  (Fortunately, I have my very own Prince Charming, aka, my husband.)

2. If you were in a fairy tale, would you live in a castle or a palace or a tower or a cottage or a swamp or under the sea?  I think I’d like to live in a cottage – nothing too fancy for me.  Plain and simple.  And above the water.

3. You are given an apple that is half green and half red.  Which side do you bite?  Red.  I love a good red apple.  I probably would have fallen for the poisoned apple trick, but only if it were red.

4. Favorite Disney song?  This is a hard one for me.  I really like all the songs in Enchanted (though I don’t remember the names of any of them).  I also loved the theme song from Sleeping Beauty and Beauty and the Beast (though I really didn’t like Angela Lansbury singing it).  Guess I just can’t pick one.

5. If you were the evil fairy/witch/stepmother/ogre, what would you use to deal with that annoying princess?   Probably send someone incompetent to deal with her and then get angry at them for not succeeding.  Then when I went myself I would deceitfully try to lure her into touching or doing something forbidden.  With my magic powers, probably.

6. Do you have a favorite retelling of a fairy tale?   I really can’t pick just one, but I love The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale and Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow by Jessica Day George.  And Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine.  And…

7. Are you on Twitter?  I couldn’t find it on your blog.  Yes.  I have a link way down on the bottom right sidebar (I don’t really advertise it much, since I don’t really use it much).  I am @melissa1lbr there.

8. Most important feature of a fairy tale?  The villain.  Really, without the nefarious bad guy (or girl) what would the good guys (and girls) do?

9. Most hated fairy tale?  Not a big fan of Rapunzel.  Or Rumpelstiltskin.  Must be something about the R names.  I’m still waiting for retellings of those that I like.  (I have A Curse Dark as Gold on my TBR pile though.)

10. Quick!  Name all 7 dwarves…no cheating!  Oh, dear.  Doc, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Dopey, Sleepy,… blast!  So close.  Um, I always thought there should be one called Sleezy

11. You would give extra candy to any trick-or-treater dressed as a _____.   Fairy tale villain.  What can I say?  I just love a good villain.

12. Dragons: cuddly or dangerous?  Definitely dangerous.  I prefer those that are scary, but not always violent.  They can love people, but don’t usually cuddle up with them.

Thanks Melissa!

Look out for more Fairy Tale memes coming this week!

HAPPY! Yeah, I’m not going to admit to how long I had to look at question 10 before figuring that out… :D
