Win an Autographed Copy of Bite Me!

bite_meATTN: Christopher Moore fans!  Most of you will probably not heed my advice and skip his latest, Bite Me.  In fact, many of you have probably run out and bought it already.  And granted, if I were you and had not yet read this book, I’d probably not heed my advice either.

And so I am here to enable your Christopher Moore addiction.  I have a signed copy of Bite Me to give to one of you.  I mean, if you’re gonna get it, you might as well get it for free, right?

Of course I’m right!

This is an international give away.  It will last one week, until the end of the month, that’s March 31st, 2010 at 11:59 PM PST.

To enter, tell me in the comments, who/what is your favorite humorous writer or book?  While I do like (most of) Moore’s books, and I like Martin Millar as well, I have to say that nobody beats Douglas Adams for me.

I do love some Douglas Adams, and some Christopher Moore… but my favorite humorous book (also my favorite, erm, book) is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

While he’s more of a sci-fi/fantasy author, Jim Butcher has a wicked sense of humor. The book that really clinched it for me was Blood Rites in the scene where he makes a frozen butterball turkey impale a vampire. I was laughing so hard I had to set the book down and thinking about it still sends me into a giggle fit. You know an author is good when they can make the line “Everyone else who lets me ride on their dinosaur calls me Carlos” not seem out of place.

I always call my “fun” books, candy. My favorite author to make me laugh is Janet Evanovich’s Plum series. I used to work at the Rennaisance Faire and would read as I was waiting for customers. I would often laugh out loud in the dead silence of our booth, causing alarm in the other presenters around me. But as anyone can with candy, you can overdose, too much candy rots your teeth. I also like to sink my teeth into some meaty books with real substance. A little candy now and then doesn’t hurt…

My favorite humorous books would have to be the shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella. The trouble her character gets into makes me laugh!

I’m going to put in for this even though I haven’t read any Christopher Moore yet. I have to start somewhere! I also love Douglas Adams but my favorite humorous writer is Jasper Fforde.

OK, while I am reading this, I am saying to myself…I can get the latest in Moore’s Vamp series for free…and autographed! The heavens have opened and shined down upon me…wait too melodramatic? Well, I love Moore and his books, particularly the vampire books, but I also loved Dirty Job and Stupidest Angel!

I would love to read this book. I just started Fool on audio!

You are damn right … I already have it. (Convinced hubby to buy it for me for anniversary/mother’s day/Easter — basically any excuse to get him to buy me a book). So enter me. And I’ll be blogging about it when I post my Christopher Moore challenge post.

So humorous book. Well, there is this author, Christopher Moore, who totally cracks me up. “Lamb” was my favorite so far … can’t wait to check out his latest. And boy … if I had an autographed copy of my VERY OWN, that would be superterrificawesome.

(I will be back to check out your review later … I can’t bear the thought that you didn’t like it . BLASPHEMER!

I like the sarcastic satirical humour of older writers like Saki and Somerset Maugham in his short stories.

But my modern favourite is definitely Jasper Fforde. If I dare to read his books in public people are soon starring at the weird woman giggling to herself in the corner!

I loved Christopher Moore’s “Lamb” but have to admit I haven’t read any of his other novels. I do enjoy Sophie Kinsella’s books and Gaby Hauftman’s “In Search of an Impotent Man” had me laughing out loud!

You know, I can’t think of my favorite humorous writer. I’m thinking I really need to read more funny books. But the funniest book I ever read was Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips.

Moore has been and quite probably always will be my favorite comedy author -if I could write humor well, I would hope that it would be at least slightly evocative of Moore’s work. I would absolutely die of joy if I won an autographed copy of one of his books.
