Some More Stuff & Another Winner

lg-new-readathonbutton-borderFirst and foremost, the 24-Hour Read-a-Thon sign up has been posted at the event website.  I’ve signed up to be a reader.  I was thinking about being a cheerleader, but since this is my first time doing it, I think I kind of just want to sit back and read.

The Read-a-Thon begins for me, in Pacific time, at 5 AM on October 24th.  If you are in London, it will start at 1 PM.  You can figure out your time from there.

A lot of the old pros have been saying that reading shorter books is key for this event.  Because of that, I am going to be starting my November Novella Challenge early.  Some of you have heard me talk about that lately, and more details will come next week.

But before I post about that, I need a button.  Anyone want to volunteer to make me a button?

In other news, my Google Reader is under 900 posts.  Yay!  I’ve not been leaving a lot of comments, and there have been lots of instances where I scanned and didn’t read carefully, but suffice it to say, I have at least checked out what you have to say (or will be).

Now, on to the really important stuff.

The winner of the audiobook of The Bookseller of Kabul is…

Mystica of Musings from Sri Lanka

I was happy to see that Mystica won, because I know that in many countries, books on CD are hard to come by.  Of course, I don’t know for sure if that’s the case in Sri Lanka, but still.

Mystica, I’m e-mailing you for your shipping address!

Thanks to everyone who entered.  There will be more give aways to come, I promise!

I signed up for the read-a-thon as a reader too! I also had to pull myself back from signing up as a cheerleader because I’m so excited. I think novellas is a great idea. Hopefully, you’ll have some recommendations posted beforehand.

This is the first time I am going to have a book on CD!!! I guess they may be around its just that its not a commonplace item around in this part of the world.

Thank you so very much – am awaiting your mail.

Oh how fun. Have you decided what to read for the readathon yet. That was my fav part last time, creating a list :)

    Congrats Mystica

I just read about this upcoming read-a-thon and I am thrilled! I couldn’t participate any of them before and I’m so in for this one! 7 am Central means I’ll be up 6 AM west coast time and I need to grab a pile of books.

I’m going to do the read-a-thon too! I’m in the final phase of negotiations with my husband re: child care. Woo hoo!

And I wouldn’t even try to read 900 posts — only my absolute favorite blogs would make the cut!

I’m so glad I saw this; I went and signed up for the first time, although I’ve been wanting to participate since its inception in 2007. Thanks for your reminder post!
