The Great Kindle Giveaway

NOTE: The Great Kindle Giveaway ended 12/18/2009.  Winner will be posted soon!

kindle-2Some of you might remember when I snuck that picture of the big box from Amazon in a post a while back, promising that something BIG was coming to Bibliofreak.

In that box, is a Kindle II.  And I’m going to give it to a reader.

This contest will run until Dec 18th, 2009.  I will get it to you by Christmas, provided you promptly respond to my e-mail that you have won.

But wait!  There’s more: I’m sure that you noticed that the box I showed before was very large, and the Kindle is the weight and size of an average paperback book.  So you might be wondering what else in the box.

The answer is more Kindles.  Fourteen more, to be precise.

GKG_300x250

However, while I’ve fronted some money, I’m not rich.  The first Kindle I’m paying for myself.  The rest will be funded through my Amazon affiliation.  For every $259 I make, I will offer up another Kindle.

How to enter:

Join my mailing list (+1) To enter you must sign up for my new weekly e-mail.  This e-mail will summarize everything that’s been going on at Bibliofreak in the last seven days, plus have new content.  During the contest, there will be an additional contest-related e-mail once a week, but after the contest, that will cease.  Past that, I promise you won’t receive any more than two emails per week from me.  Every email will include a handy link in case you want to unsubscribe from the list (so no hitting the spam button, please!).

The sign up box is at the top of the column on the right.  Just fill out the information, and hit “subscribe now”.

After signing up, you will receive an email confirming that you really and truly want to subscribe.  In order to enter, you MUST click on the link in that email to confirm that you want to join the list.  If you don’t confirm, you don’t get entered.  Also, you must be an active (not unsubscribed) member of the mailing list on December 18th to qualify for the giveaway.

Blog Post (+5 – one time only): Post about this giveaway on your own blog, letting your readers know about the giveaway and how to join.

Make a YouTube Video (+5): Don’t just tell me how you want a Kindle, show me!  The more fun, interesting, funny, goofy, the better!  In order to qualify, please put the terms Bibliofreak and Kindle Giveaway in the title of the video.  Make sure to e-mail me as soon as you upload your video to YouTube, as the first person who claims it is theirs will get the credit.  Sorry, there’s just no other way to verify who posted it!

Featured YouTube Video (+20): Each week, in The Great Kindle Give Away newsletter, I’ll select one featured video, which, for whatever reason, appeals to me above all others (it made me laugh, it made me cry, a little girl crawled out of my computer screen, etc.).  This featured video will get an extra 20 entries!

Follow me on Twitter (+1): Go here.  Follow me.

Tweet about it with #kindlegiveaway (+1 – one time only)

Become a fan of Bibliofreak on Facebook (+1): Go here. Become my fan!

Post this link on Digg/Reddit/StumbleUpon (+1): Spread the word through your social network.

THE BEST PART (+1 per entry): When you sign up, you will receive a unique link to this giveaway page.  Whenever you choose to do any of the above, make sure to use this link.  For every person that clicks and joins the mailing list from your link, you’ll receive an extra entry.  What does that mean?  If you get 100 of your readers/friends/family to join our list through your links, then you get 100 extra entries!  If 200 join, you get 200 entries.  If 1,000…  well, you get the idea.

(Note: I would never expect anyone to take advantage of this by providing fake or duplicate emails.  If you do feel tempted to do this, don’t. We’ll catch you and you’ll be disqualified.  Trust me.)

Send us your entries: To make both of our lives easier, e-mail your entries to thegreatkindlegiveaway@gmail.com.  Be sure to use the e-mail address you signed up for the newsletter with.  And most importantly, be sure to give us evidence of your actions.  If you tweet about #kindlegiveaway, include the URL of your tweet.  If you become a fan on Facebook, tell me your FB user name.  Get my point?

The drawing: The drawing will occur on December 18th.  The drawing will be randomized using random.org.  Every point you get above qualifies you for another entry.  Having the highest score doesn’t guarantee you a Kindle, but it does increase your chances.

More Kindles: The Great Kindle Giveaway starts with 1 Kindle, but I have 15 in total.  As you’ve probably noticed, Bibliofreakblog has links to Amazon on the sidebar and in posts.  If you click one of these links right before you make a purchase, I make a commission.  It doesn’t matter if you buy the book I’ve reviewed or something else entirely (TVs, games, DVDs, Kindle books, anything).  For every $259 in commissions I make, I’ll release another Kindle into the drawing.  It doesn’t cost you any extra to do this, and it really helps me make this blog possible.  Think of it as a mitzvah, and another way to increase your chances of winning a Kindle, because the more in the offering, the more likely you are to get one.

For those abroad: This give away is International.  If the U.S. Post Office can send it to you, then you’re eligible.  Sorry astronauts, that means nobody on space stations.  For all of you international readers, keep in mind that this is the brand spankin’ new Kindle 2, which works everywhere.  However, because I ordered it from the U.S., they have U.S. chargers, so if you are some place other than North America, you’ll either need an adapter or to order a new charger.

To answer Laura’s question (and hopefully this will help everybody): While you won’t get another entry for tweeting again, you will get an entry for each person who signs up through your unique link, so it is in your interest to tweet often! :)

OH MY GOD! What an awesome contest!!!! I have to sort through all the info but I’ll at least let people know about it. I have a Kindle already so I guess I don’t need to enter. You have one right?

No need to enter me, believe it or not (I’m not an Amazon girl). I’m dropping in to say thanks for giving me the chance to post about this at Win a Book. As a huge fan of digital books, this is exciting.

Since you are responsible for introducing me to audio CD (the book) via a contest, I am hoping that my luck will extend to a Kindle!

Thank you ever so much for making this international. Much, much appreciated.

I have subscribed for the newsletter and read your instructions (twice) so I do hope I get it right. Am a bit slow I think.
