Got Books?

Got_Books3-1July 23-24 is the two day, virtual Got Books? extravaganza!

What is it?  I don’t know.  I joined kinda late.  From what I understand, the minds behind Satisfaction for Insatiable Readers and There’s a Book, started talking about their love of books (as we all often do) and decided to make a celebration event out of it (as we all often do).

Sooner or later, over 100 blogs had signed up to host give aways during the event.

So, in essence, it’s a bookish give away event.  But, you know, with A LOT of blogs.

I’m giving away a two-disc CD set of lectures by Elaine Pagels.  These lectures were recorded after soon after her book
Beyond Belief: The Secret Gospel of Thomas came out.  While it illuminates her studies set forth in that book, you do not need to have read it or really to know anything about the Gnostic Gospels at all to enjoy it.

What’s nice about it is that sometimes even the must accessible of academics can bog down their own writing.  Hearing her speak somewhat off the cuff about it, in a distilled sort of sense is a nice change.

To enter, leave a comment, and tell me what the last book you read was.  The last book I read was 31 Bond Street, which I will be blogging about next week.

Extra points for:

Tweeting about this (+1)
Blogging about this (+3)
Participating in Got Books? (+1)
Participating in the World Religion Challenge (+1)

This contest is open internationally.

It goes only until the end of the Got Books? event, so hurry!
