Another Party Crashed, Another Author Met

bite_meOh how wretched the life of an intern is!  I have to go to parties and author readings and then write about them.

Last weekend I crashed a sci-fi themed party for The Stranger.  This article is in print, but I haven’t picked up the issue yet, so I am not sure what page is on.  Some where towards the back, I’m sure.

Anyways, if you’re not in Seattle (and most of you aren’t), you can read it online.  And I’ll give you a hint of what’s in store:

Jo has done food-themed parties before, but “this is my crowning glory.” Though she has to admit “that bread-and-cheese-ball planet kinda looks like a Katamari.” She offers me a choice of beer or blue to drink. I take blue.

Then, just last night I went and saw Christopher Moore read.

Regarding his new book, Bite Me, I give it a solid meh.  A lot of it is derivative of his old stuff.  I wrote:

If you are, like me, a serious fan of Christopher Moore, I probably can’t dissuade you from reading Bite Me. If you are fairly new to Moore, you should wait until his next book (he announced that he’s just finished writing a graphic novel—to which I can only say “squee!”) or just go pick up Lamb instead.

You can read the rest of the details over on Slog.

You know, the only book I ever tried to read by him was LAMB, and I couldn’t get through it. It was one of the rarest moments for me: I actually returned the book to the bookstore. As much as I thought I would have liked that book….I haven’t picked up anything else by him because of LAMB. Sigh…..maybe I’ll try again someday.

Ahhh another literary gate-crasher. keep up the good work. Although Seattle sounds much more interesting than Sydney in the way of literary events
