Buffy: The Long Way Home by Joss Whedon
I don’t know if anyone would like this who isn’t into Buffy in the first place. Of course, you could go back and read the graphic novels of seasons 1-7, but again, why would you if you weren’t already super obsessed with Buffy?
As I am.
And having said that, I sort of wonder why it took me so long to get around to reading these. Maybe it’s because I’m just getting into graphic novels. Maybe because I was afraid that it wouldn’t translate well.
Happily, it seems that it does translate pretty well. Would I rather have a Buffy movie or real season 8? Well, yeah, probably. But this is a nice indulgence.
First thing I have to say, and you find this out in the first few pages, is that the Buffy in Rome, dating the Immortal, is not really Buffy–I know, right? (O.K., you have to follow Angel as well, to get that…)
So here’s the rundown: Dawn is having boy problems. Xander and Buffy are living in a military style bunker, taking out demons with the Slayerettes. The U.S. Military is interested in them for all the wrong reasons, and recruit an old frenemy. Willow hasn’t been heard from for months. Will she come back in time to save the day? Can she even save the day? And who loves Buffy enough to help? (Hint: it’s not who you think…)

I really want to read these but haven’t gotten around to actually getting them. I will have to try harder.
I was slow to read these too, and I still haven’t made up my mind on whether I’m going to buy them eventually. I think I’ll wait and see how the story arc turns out because, well, I’m fickle that way.
I’m way too anxious to wait for TPBs to come out. I time my comic store visit with when the newest Buffy comic comes out. And it has been quite the rollercoaster recently. Lots of OMG moments…I know there have been some naysayers on the comic series, but I have way too much loyalty to Buffy…I am so glad it’s in comic form. I haven’t been caught up with the Angel comics though…Glad to hear you’re a Buffy fan too
