Summer Vacation Reading Challenge Wrap Up

beach challengeI actually finished my sixth book for this challenge last week, but with all of the BBAW craziness, didn’t review it until yesterday.  Therefore, I am about two weeks past the deadline in completing this challenge.

That’s O.K. though.  I choose to stay positive and focus on the fact that I did, indeed complete it!

Molly at My Cozy Book Nook is hosted this Summer Vacation travel-themed challenge.

I joined at the “globe-trotter” level.  Cross-overs for other challenges were allowed, but at least one had to be for this challenge alone.  I made a list of six books and could substitute up to three of them (though I only switched out one).

Since it was travel-themed, each book took place in a different country.

I read:

1. The Savage Detectives by Roberto Bolaño (Mexico)
2. Bridget Jones’ Diary by Helen Fielding (England)
3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak (Germany)
4. Midnight’s Children by Salman Rushdie (India)
5. The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky (Russia) The Lace-Makers of Glenmara by Heather Barbieri (Ireland)
6. Poland by James Michener (Poland) (also read for the Take a Chance Challenge & the War Through the Generations Challenge)

I guess summer is over, huh?

Hi, I wrote a post today that was indirectly inspired by something you said over at Devourer of Books months ago. I’d be interested in your take on it, when and if you have time.

YEA for you for finishing the challenge!

I entered you in the drawing for the books that you did read prior to Labor Day, but unfortunately your name was not selected by the powers that be at random.org.

You read some great books, and I hope you truly enjoyed your literary adventures.

It is hard to believe it is the first day of fall, isn’t it?

Oh you got some good reading in! I <3 Bridget Jones Diary! I keep meaning to read The Book Thief as well! Now I have to go back and re-read some of your reviews :)

Summer is officially over but you had such good books and such a great way of choosing them that I could see why you went ahead and finished.
