Read-A-Thon Thon Thon

lg-new-readathonbutton-borderLet me see that ‘thon ‘thon ‘thon ‘thon ‘thon….

Yup.  The ‘Thon is coming back.

It starts at 5AM (Pacific Time, which is 1 PM GMT, and you can do the math from there) April 10th.  My husband invited me to go camping that weekend.

I don’t even like camping.

So, I will stay home, with my cat, and read, for 24 hours, or until I give up and start listening to audio books.

Here are a few things I learned from the 24 hour Read-A-Thon last year: don’t read classics, unless they are highly engaging.  Short books are good.  Cheerleaders are the shit.  Having a diversity of books is good.  I read much more slowly than other people, and that is O.K.

With that in mind, I’m thinking of reading:

Graphic novels: Sandman, Fables

YA: Percy Jackson books

Non-fiction: Elaine Pagels

ARCs: ARCs!  Need to catch up on that.  Need to read books for Slog, as that will be coming up on my last week at the Stranger and the more I have on Slog, the better.

Audiobooks: Probably The Namesake, assuming I’m still listening to that.

Novels: Not sure.

Wish me luck.  I hope to see you there!

Oooooh, I want to do this! …but that’s my Bunco night. I wonder if the ladies would mind me sitting there with a novel in one hand and my wine and dice in the other?

This will be my third Read-a-Thon and I’ve learned the hard way that short books are the best. Have a great time!
