Non-Fiction Challenge, Or, OMG, when will I stop?

nonfictionsmallSeriously?  More Challenges?  I can’t stop.  Can’t can’t can’t.  I’d just been thinking that I need more nonfiction with all of these challenges I’m doing, plus signing up for reviews of books from publishers/authors, when I stumbled across the Nonfiction Reading Challenge hosted by Trish at Trish’s Books.  It’s already a month underway, but I can use a couple of cross-overs, plus some books that I really need to read because I’ve just–drumroll please!–started writing a novel.  Perhaps I’ll blog on that stuff, but maybe not.  We’ll see.

So.  The Challenge.  Here’s the rules:

1. Read 5 non-fiction books during the months of May – September, 2009 (please link your reviews on Mister Linky each month; Mister Linky can be found each month on this blog)

2. Read at least one non-fiction book that is different from your other choices (i.e.: 4 memoirs and 1 self-help)

3. If interested, please sign up below [comment on original post, not mine] with the link to your NFF Challenge post (all choices do not need to be posted and may change at any time)

Though it started in May, the challenge goes until Sept. 30th, so that still gives me almost 4 months.  I’ll be reading the following:

1. The Third Jesus by Deepak Chopra (cross-over w/ another challenge)
2. Why I Became an Atheist: A Former Preacher Rejects Christianity by John Loftus (cross-over w/ another challenge)
3.  Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales
4. Into the Wild by John Krakauer
5. How Fiction Works by James Wood (I’m considering this one my “different from the others” one)

Wish me luck.  I still have another challenge hat I’ve not decided everything for, but should be posting about soon!

Well, if it makes you feel any better I’m hosting the challenge and have read 0 NF books since it started. :) I’d been averaging 2 a month…but…

Great list–I’ve heard interesting things about Into the Wild. Thanks for signing up and happy reading!

But why stop when you’re having so much fun? :P

The Classics challenge started in April and I’ve read zero books for it so far. Must do something about that, actually.

I am challenge happy too! I’m bad at them though. I forget to post links and procrastinate on the wrap-up posts.
