These Challenge Posts Are Interesting Only to Myself, I Know
If I want to finish all of the challenges I’m signing up for this year, I ought to stop posting about them and go read.
But as it is, I’m incredibly, unbelievably, undeniably addicted to joining them.
In case you haven’t figured that out already. Either way, here’s five more.
Thanks in part to blog tours and my internship, I’m already reading a few books that hit stores this year. So, I thought I’d sign up for the 2010 Pub Challenge, and commit to reading at least ten.
Also, because of the whole Game On thing, I can’t spend as much time in pubs as usual, so this is a consolation prize for myself. Thanks to 1 More Chapter for hosting even if it doesn’t really involve places where alcohol is served, despite the picture.
I’m not making a list for this one, since, duh, I don’t know what will be published this year (well, not really).
The Once Upon a Time Challenge, hosted by the Crazy Book Slut, has been calling to me. The idea is to read at least 5 “fairy tales you grew up reading but from another view than Disney’s version. There are so many great fairy tale books out there, that might take the same story we know but with an added twist.”
My tentative list includes:
There Once Lived a Woman Who Tried to Kill Her Neighbor’s Baby: Scary Fairy Tales
The Lightning Thief
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister
A Short History of Myth

Amy from My Friend Amy is hosting the Buy One Book and Read It Challenge, which, is just what the title says it is. However, there are other levels (buy six! buy 12! read them all!) and mini-challenges involved.
As for right now, I think I’m going to buy and read Zadie Smith’s new book of Essays, Changing My Mind, which I’ve been wanting since it came out in November.
BUT! I am a book-buying fool, so I’ll probably end up getting at least six over the next 12 months.
Then again, I mostly buy used books these days (because of the money factor), so maybe I won’t. (Seriously though, who am I kidding? I can’t go to Costco without picking something up).
Since I have a Kindle of my very own now, I decided to join the EBook Challenge. I’m going to commit to reading 6 books on my Kindle, and will start as soon as my husband gives it back to me, and also as soon as I get a cover for it, so that I can take it out of the house without worrying.
This challenge is hosted by Royal Reviews. BTW, I may have gone crazy joining challenges, but Royal Reviews seems to have gone crazy hosting them, which let me tell you, is a lot of work!
I’m not sure what books I’ll include in this, but I bet it’ll be a lot of classics since those are usually either free or really cheap! :)

Lastly, I’ll be joining J. Kaye’s Support Your Local Library Challenge.
My local library, the Seattle public library, has many branches. In fact, I can walk to three of them from my house (though they’re all pretty small). I do, however, spend a great deal of time at the main branch downtown.
Really, I plan on including any branch in this.
The lowest level to join at is 25 books. A lot, I know. I seriously don’t know if I’ll make that, as I have no kiddos to read to, and that’s what the library is best for, IMHO.
I plan on checking out a lot of audio books as well as graphic novels, as well as regular books.

I’m still not finished with all my sign up posts! I’m joining so many challenges, but I just can’t help myself. My first year book blogging…all these challenges…I’m like a kid in a candy store! I am signing up for your World Religions challenge, I promise, just haven’t finished my sign ups yet.
Good luck with all your challenges
Its a good way to keep track of them all though.
I like reading challenge posts and see what you’ll be planning on reading. You do seem to have an addiction though! ; )
I like the challenge posts. It makes me want to join more challenges, but I am practicing a new kind of will power I didn’t know I had. Anyway, I am signed up for the Ebook challenge with my new Nook and the Library challenge since I get a lot of books from there. If only they offered ebooks too. Maybe your library does.
Yeah! You are joining the Support Your Local Library Reading Challenge! I love the library soooo much!
Also, I emailed you about an idea I have. Let me know if you don’t receive it.
I’m looking forward to some rad reviews this year missy.
Also, as much as I love your challenge posts, they just remind me how incapable I am of ever finishing anything I’ve started.
But you go ahead. Rub it in.
This is my year doing challenges and I’m already behind putting up the individual posts for them. I only picked three– man, you are putting me to shame! LOL I did pick one though to read a 100 books in a year, so that’s BIG.
I totally agree with you that it would be a lot easier to get the reading challenges done if we stopped writing about/signing up for them and read!
I have signed up for like 30 plus challenges. If only people would stop coming out with these amazing challenges! I can’t seem to stop! Hi, my name is Rebecca, and I am a challenge-aholic.
