All About the Brontës Challenge

bronte_challengeWe knew that it was going to happen sooner or later.  After the success of Stephanie’s Everything Austen Challenge, somebody was going to go and make one for the Brontës.  Frankly, I am surprised it didn’t happen sooner.

But, since the All About the Brontës Challenge doesn’t start until 2010, I suppose it’s nice to focus on Austen one year and the Brontës the next.

So far I’ve only ever read Jane Eyre.  The goal of this challenge is to read, listen to, or watch 3-6 works by or about the Brontës.  I’ve chosen one book by each sister, and three Jane Eyre spin-offs.

Though, now that I think about it, that does make my list a bit Jane Eyre heavy.  That’s O.K., I declare that I have the right to change my mind.

Here’s my list as it stands now:

Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys
The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde
Agnes Grey by Anne Brontë
The Secret by Charlotte Brontë
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

Wish me luck!

Thanks for joining the challenge! I’m breaking out the Juvenilia to add The Secret onto the list.

I kept waiting for a Bronte challenge myself after loving the Everything Austen Challenge. I didn’t see one so I decided I would just do it myself! :-)

Yes, it was inevitable. And it hasn’t taken me long to go on this ride.
I think I’m going to do one from each gal as well.
    Good luck!

Good luck! Definitely inevitable but very fitting. The Eyre Affair didn’t blow me away but I love its follow-ups in the Thursday Next series. One of my favourite books is Wide Sargasso Sea but it’s a love-hate book and my all-time favourite is Rebecca for its Jane Eyre allusions.

Yipes! I am still working on the Jane Austen one so I must not look at this one! :)
