Everything Austen X 2
I’ve tried to resist. But then I went to the library, where, in the scarce variety of DVDs checked in, I happened upon Mansfield Park. I picked it up, put it down…walked down the aisle… When I turned back, I saw a woman standing at that particular shelf, eying MP. My DVD! I crept up behind her to see if she’d take it. She put it back and moved in the opposite direction. Seeing that it was securely in place again, I let it be, and moved a a pace or two along. But it sat there…beckoning to me. I picked it up again, and new what I had to do. And in this, I could both follow my heart, and do what is right.
Austenprose is hosting the Everything Austen X 2 challenge. Instead of just six Jane Austen, or Austen Inspired, books, crafts or movies, pick 12!
What! 12! By the end of the year! Along with all of those *other* challenges…
Well, yes. And after this, I think I’ll take a hiatus from Miss Austen for some time. But think of all of the bragging rights. What, you’ve never read Northanger Abbey? Really?
So, here’s my additional six:
7. Watch Mansfield Park
8. Listen to Northanger Abbey on CD
9. Read Confessions of a Jane Austen Addict and/or Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict by Laurie Viera Rigler
10. Read Sense & Sensibility on bookglutton.com (more to come on this fab website!)
11. Read Jane Austen’s History of England (just saw this at the used book store…hope they still have it!)
12. Watch Bride & Prejudice
These are in addition to my original six:
1. Read Pride & Prejudice
2. Read Pride & Prejudice & Zombies
3. Read Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason by Helen Fielding
4. Watch Lost in Austen
5. Watch Becoming Jane (done!)
6. Watch the movie of Persuasion (done! post to come!)
Wish me luck! Though maybe you’ll get so sick of Austen, you’ll hope I fail. ;)
One last note: Have you seen the Twitter version of Pride and Prejudice? It’s a must!
