2010 A to Z Challenge

smallatozbanner2010I wanted to do the A to Z Challenge this year, but I never signed up and then since the year was like, half over didn’t know if I could complete it.  But I am DEFINITELY going to do it in 2010.

There’s three ways to go about this.  There’s the title, the author name, or both (meaning you read a title AND an author for each letter–no mixing and matching).

The challenge goes from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31st 2010.  That averages to reading…2 1/3 books a month.  I think that this is doable.  Especially if I think critically about what novellas I choose for the November Novella Challenge next year (isn’t sad that I’m already planning for that?) and if I join the YA Challenge or Graphic Novel Challenge.

I’m going to go with authors, rather than titles.  Maybe the following year I’ll do it the other way.

Here’s my list thus far:

A
B
C
D
E Shusaku Endo OR Umberto Eco
F
G
H
I  Kazuo Ishiguro
J
K
L
M
N
O Joyce Carol Oates
P
Q Queen Noor (does that count?)
R
S
T
U John Updike
V Kurt Vonnegut
W
X Malcolm X
Y
Z Emile Zola

O.K., I think I’ve thought up authors for the most difficult letters, so I’m feeling pretty confident.  :)

Good idea about Malcom X! I’m doing the title one this year and it was fun. I still have one book left (my X book). It was a struggle for me to do as I don’t read a ton of books in a year … it accounted for about half of my books this year so I think I’m gonig to take a pass on it this year … BUT I might review what I already have lined up and if I have almost all the letters covered, I might do it! Good luck.

I’m doing this one and the only one I’m struggling with is X. I may have to look up Malcolm X. I used John Updike for U too :)
