What kind of novels are you looking for? I'm mainly a paranormal/fantasy reader, but if you're willing to try (which it does look like you are), I would suggest Richelle Mead, Melissa Marr, Jeaniene Frost, Keri Arthur, Chloe Neill and Maria V. Snyder to name a few.

Tried Tom Rob Smith of Child 44? Donna Tartt of Secret History? Stieg Larsson of "The Girl with dragon tatoo" trilogy? or Haruki Murakami? David Ebershoff of 19th wife? Just to name a few.

It would be interesting to do this challenge. But I have the habit of straying from my reading plan, not sure if it would work for me!

Have you read Peter Carey? I highly recommend him. Maybe Oscar and Lucinda? He's a prolific Australian writer, who now lives in New York, (not sure how well known he is overseas)

Oh ... this sounds like a good one. I might have to think about doing this one.

And I don't think I'm going to do your novella challenge after all. My mom is visiting for most of November and it is going to be crazy so I think I'm not going to get much reading done during that month -- or blogging for that matter. Good thing I'm so backlogged in reviews to write already.

Are there any "classic" authors you haven't gotten around to yet? I may do this challenge--I'm planning to pick up a bunch of new (to me) authors in the coming year. Many of them are classics that I just haven't gotten around to yet, like Charles Dickens and Charlotte Bronte.

I'm going to read Isabel Allende for the first time soon too. The one I'm looking most forward to is Michael Chabon. I have two of his books here at home to start with. I'm also going to read my first E.L. Doctorow soon. I'm hoping it's good because I want to read his new one.
