I recently watched what turned out to be a most impressive documentary about gay men and women in Muslim communities and countries.
You can actually find this whole documentary for free online, but I picked it up at the library recently. As you might be able to tell by yesterday’s post, I have been on a weird documentary kick as of late. They’re nice to watch while doing boring stuff like paying bills.
I had no idea just how much Little Women was based on Louisa May Alcott’s own life before watching this. Actually, the things I knew about Louisa May Alcott included: her father was a transcendentalist & she grew up hanging out with Emerson and Thoreau; she was a tomboy who had sisters. That’s about it.
The Seattle Independent Film Festival starts today. If you are not in the Seattle area, you probably don’t care about this post. However, if you are here, I can recommend one and whatever the antonym for recommend, I can do for another.
Though it’s not my favorite Shakespeare play, the 1999 movie version of Titus Andronicus, which is simply titled Titus, has long been my favorite Shakespearian screen adaptation.
Hamlet 2 begs to important questions: 1. What would Hamlet do with a time machine, and 2. Could Jesus successfully market himself nowadays if he went the sex sells route.
I think that part of the reason that this story has always appealed to me, is that I am Margaret Dashwood. I have two sisters much older than me, and I used to ask their boyfriends idiotic questions, like, are you guys going to get married?
Oh how infinitely better Miss Austen Regrets was than Becoming Jane. Taking place later in the authoress’s life, she attempts to sort out her past decisions and give love advice to her niece.
I’m going to be bold here: There has been no more perfect Mr. Darcy than Matthew MacFayden.
