About Bibliofreak
Or, Who the Hell is J.T. Oldfield?
Bibliofreak is a blog dedicated to bringing a little more love to the literary world. Most of the time. Sometimes its rants about various things, like books that make no sense, and Generation X. At any rate, you don’t have to whisper in here. In fact, shouting from the rooftops is highly encouraged.
All genres are considered, as are all writers and time periods. Again, most of the time. You probably won’t see a lot of Romance novels or pulp hits.
I, J.T. Oldfield, am a freelance writer, living in Seattle. My work has been featured on other people’s websites, but this one is my own. Hence the sometimes ranting.
I graduated in 2005 from Western Michigan University, where I double majored in English (creative writing) and also Comparative Religion, and minored in Anthropology. This, I like to say, is my Trifecta of Useless Information. It is also why you will see so many books on nerdy topics like linguistics, evolution, and religion.
While at WMU I interned at the lit journal Third Coast. Basically, I opened the mail.
I am unapologetically Gen Y. I was born in ‘83, and have little to no regrets about that. ”They” say that my generation is uninterested in things like books or current affairs. I beg to differ. I will paraphrase what a teacher once paraphrased to me: Someone said that this new generation was full of deviants and didn’t care about anything except having fun. That person was Socrates.
